VALE George / Andy Warwick (pit crew (1967/8) )
Condolences to the Tatnell family. I remember the heady days at Sydney showground and Liverpool. Race plugs once got left at Tempe so Joe got me to drive back from L'pool and get them ( midget warm ups had commenced) got back in time for feature. Despite all the panic, George found time to quietly get me aside and thank me- a thourough gentleman and total professional ! Condolences also from Mr Norm Harrang (now 87) ex NRMA
From 4 days old i was taken to speedway as the whole family is speedway mad.One of my first memories is the winfield #5 car i used to be taken down to the pits when i was old enough with my brother peter and got to take a seat in them while peter was speaking to george Tatnell,Gary Rush, brazier's and all the gang till early hours of the morning.Even though when my parents died when i was just in my teenage years i stopped attending,Speedway has always been in my blood and people like George, Brooke, and and all the others have left me with special memories. The thing i respect the most is as a young family these friends of my brother were always there for us.When my father died in 1989 Brooke tatnell, had won the feature at pcr and on the podium they called my brother peter up and Brooke handed him his winning trophy, which gave the whole dobson family a buzzing feeling and a smile well needed. But i recall the best thing i have learnt in life would be from george and joe tatnell and thats brotherhood. As far back as i can remember they were always a team and to me thats as good as brotherhood gets.It taught me a lot of morals.I still look at my brothers trophy's which sprintcar drivers around the world have given him and Brookes trophy still sits at the front of them all along with his photo of steve brazier jnr.So at this time i would like to say to the tatnells our prayers and thoughts are with each and every one of you and god bless gt's soul. This is not goodbye it's just goodnight until we meet again in heaven. It's a blessing that i was privileged to have met George and have these memories to hold for the rest of my life yours sincerely kevin dobson jnr

To the tatnell family, our sincere condolences to you and yours, on the passing of george "a world class legend". I did not know him personally but held him in high regard as one of the best the sprintcar and midget world has ever seen and been a part of. John did in fact talk to him on several occasions through the years as he has been involved with all classes of open wheel speedway classes for the past 20 + years as an engine builder. The final flag has dropped on a truly great man and a genuine icon. He was a serious competitor and a loving father. We have the same admiration for brooke, so much so that we named our first child brooke also. We apologize that we cant be at the funeral to pay our final respects, but know that we will be thinking of him and you on this sad day. Sincere sympathies to all. "Life is not measured by our last breath, but by the moments of life that take our breath away ". yours sincerly John & Vicki Coonan-Brisbane, Qld.

George Tatnell was a true champion of our sport, through the booming 70's and 80's he was a household name and his stature in the sport never slipped after his retirement.
George was a true gentleman and a great personality on and off the track and the best ambasssador Speedway could wish to have seen.
Our sport and the world is better for 1 GT, and may his spirit live on through Brooke in years to come.
Our thoughts our with the Tatnell family at this tough time.
